As a result of the Covid pandemic, the Championships scheduled for 2020 and 2021 were cancelled.
The World 2021 Bridge Team Championships (Bermuda Bowl, Venice Cup, d’Orsi Senior Trophy and Wuhan Trophy) was held in 2022 from 27 March – 9 April.
The WBF Management Committee unanimously approved the following future dates:
- 2022 the World Bridge Series – a transnational Teams (The Rosenblum Open Teams, The McConnell Women’s Teams, the Rand Senior Teams and the Mixed Teams) and Pairs Championship with the same categories. There is no limit to the number of teams / pairs that may be entered by any WBF member National Bridge Organisation.
- 2022 The World Open Youth Championship – a transnational Teams and Pairs Championship with no limit to the number of teams / pairs that may be entered by any WBF member National Bridge Organisation.
- 2023 the World Bridge Teams Championship – Open, Women’s, Senior and Mixed Teams Championships for NBOs qualifying through their Zonal Championships. There is normally a Transnational Open Teams held during the second week of the event.
- 2023 the World Youth Teams Championship – Teams Championships (The Howes Trophy U31; The Ortiz Patino Trophy U26 Open; The Gianarrigo Rona Trophy U26 Women, The José Damiani Trophy U21 and the Koç University Trophy U16) for NBOs qualifying through their Zonal Championships
- 2024 The World Bridge Games – each WBF Member NBO is invited to send one team in each category (The Vanderbilt Open Teams, The Torlontano Women’s Teams, Senior and Mixed) to these Championships with Pairs championships for each category being held during the second week
- 2024 The World Open Youth Championship- a transnational Teams and Pairs Championship with no limit to the number of teams / pairs that may be entered by any WBF member National Bridge Organisation.
