More than 100 bridge teachers from over 35 countries took part in the first series of WBF Bridge Academy – Discovery seminars, held online in May and June 2026.
Participation was truly global, spanning Europe, Asia, the Americas, Africa and Oceania, with teachers joining from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Indonesia and Japan, across Europe from Portugal and Spain to Greece, the Nordic and Baltic countries, and from Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and Uruguay to Uganda and South Africa. It was, in the truest sense, the world meeting at the bridge table.
World Bridge Academy – Discovery is a complete teaching method, ready to use, created by the World Bridge Federation for teachers of all experience levels. It provides ready-to-use materials, including deals, manuals and arrowed decks, and is flexible enough for both in-class and online teaching. The aim is simple: to give every teacher the tools to bring new players to the game with confidence, anywhere in the world. The seminars introduced the philosophy behind the method, walked teachers through the materials, and showed how Discovery can be adapted to different classrooms, cultures and languages.
Every teacher who took part has already received an official Certificate of Participation, signed by Franck Riehm, WBF President, and Jean-Pierre Desmoulins for the World Bridge Academy, sent to them by email.
