The WBF Convention Card must be used at all WBF Championship events. The systems regulations for specific events can be found by clicking here where you will find the Supplemental Conditions of Contest for that event and there are additional regulations in the WBF General Conditions of Contest. Players should also refer to the WBF Systems Policy for further guidance.
The Convention Card is two-sided, and when completing it players should ensure that it prints on just two sheets of paper – a front and a back. Note that Supplemental Sheets (A4 or letter size) should be provided, cross referenced to the cards, for any explanations that do not fit easily onto the form. Players must ensure that their forms do not use very small fonts, and are easily readable. If possible they should not be completed by hand as this is often not legible. Please use a computer if you can.
The Convention Cards are best prepared using the Word or Excel Templates which can be downloaded from the links below. Players who have used the WBF CCE or the Lee Edwards progams in the past are urged to update to the Word version – if you send the original files to Anna Gudge she may be able to assist with the conversion for you. Players with Mac computers are strongly advised not to use “pages” to create their cards as these will not print accurately and it is extremely difficult (or even impossible) to convert them to PDF properly.
A link is also provided below to the Guide to Completion of the Convention Card which may be of use when filling the card in to ensure that all relevant information is included.
Note that many events prohibit the use of Brown Sticker or HUM systems. Please ensure your system does not include these if you are participating in such events (details are in the Systems Policy). Written defences are only permitted against such systems – again, information about that can be found in the Systems Policy.
If Brown Sticker (BS) Conventions or HUM Systems are to be used by players, particular attention is drawn to the Conditions of Contest for the event to ascertain they are permitted and at what stage of the event. Special forms are required for BS Conventions and links to blank forms for use for Opening Bids and Overcalls are below together with a PDF document of instructions for each type of form. Brown Sticker and HUM systems are NEVER allowed in Youth or Senior Championships.
