New World Championship Scheme
Following the meetings of the WBF Executive Council in Shanghai 2007, the World Bridge Federation has announced the new plan for the World Bridge Championships, effective 2008.
The World Bridge Championships now operates on a four-year cycle.

Gianarrigo Rona of Italy will be the new President of the World Bridge Federation. He will succeed José Damiani of France when he steps down as WBF President at the end of the 2010 World Bridge Series Championships, due to take place in Philadelphia, USA.
The election of the new President took place at the WBF Executive Council meetings in São Paulo, so that there will be ample time for the new administrative head of the WBF to prepare for office.
' newsContent[2]='Seniors’ minimum age stabilized at 60
As from 2010, the WBF decision to gradually increase the age limit for senior players is fully implemented.
Seniors are now players who attain at least their 60th birthday in the year in question.
