Winners of the Youth Championships
At the same time, the Youth Championships were held, with Argentina and Colombia qualifying for the Junior Championship and Chile and Brazil for the Youngster Championship to be held in Salsomaggiore, Italy from 3rd - 13th August 2016.
The WBF meets ANOC & OCA President
On the afternoon of Thursday 17th May the WBF President Gianarrigo Rona, together with the BFAME Vice President Azwerul Haque, the Kuwait Bridge President Numan Al-Turki, were been received by Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Jaber Al Sabah, ANOC and OCA President in Kuwait City.
The meeting concerned the inclusion of Bridge in the 2018 Asian Olympic Games, to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The meeting, conducted in a very friendly atmosphere, was very profitable and Sheikh Ahmad assured his support.
In the evening President Rona met Officers and Members of the Kuwait Bridge Association who awarded him with a special plaque during a dinner, followed by a duplicate bridge session, kindly hosted by Dr. Amhad Alroumi, one of the founders of the Association.

The 2016 IMSA Elite Mind Games opens in Huai'an, China
A magnificent Opening Ceremony heralded the start of the IMSA Elite Mind Games which were held from 25th February to 3rd March.
Five Mind Sports competed in this extremely prestigious event :
Bridge, Chess, Draughts, Go and Xiangqi.

High Level Players Commission
Following the first meeting held in Chennai, during the World Championship, a meeting of the HLPC was held at the 2015 Fall NABC in Denver, USA, attended by Philippe Cronier (as acting Chairman), Ishmael Del'Monte, Heather Dhondy (via Skype conference call), Giorgio Duboin, Chip Martel, Marion Michielsen, Kirubakara Moorthy, Tarek Sadek, Janice Seamon-Molson, Jackie Thompson, Kit Woolsey, Fu Zhong (members), Simon Fellus (secretary). Excused Ata Aydin, Agustin Madala and Wang WenFei (who attended the meeting in Chennai).
During the meeting Giorgio Duboin was unanimously elected as a Member of the WBF Executive Council, representing the High level Players, joining Janice Seamon-Molson, who was elected in January 2015.
The HLPC also unanimously approved the election of Ata Aydin as Chairman Emeritus, Philippe Cronier as Chairman and Ishmael Del’Monte as Vice Chairman.
In the same meeting the HLPC approved the institution, starting from 1st January 2016 of the HLPC Express Line (to read it click here) to enable concerns regarding possible unethical behaviour to be reported confidentially.
Any WBF registered member may report suspicious occurrences or activities, related to unethical behaviour, which may materially infringe the Laws, Rules and Regulations of Bridge and the WBF Disciplinary Code. The Report will be in the form of an Unethical Behaviour Report.
Scientific paper published by Members of the WBF Medical Commission
A paper published by Bruno Federico, Paolo Walter Gabriele and Giovanni Capelli of the WBF Medical and Prevention Commission on the use of medicines and dietary supplements among Bridge players in two world-class tournaments has been published and is available for free download until 30th January 2016. Click here to download it.
The paper was published in the journal "Performance Enhancement & Health". The study found that professional Bridge players’ demographic and health-related characteristics indicate to a different pattern of drug use than "physical" athletes normally considered under the World Anti-Doping Code.
