Rules and Regulations
World Championships are conducted under the International Code Law of Bridge and special Conditions of Contest.
The WBF has issued a general part of the Conditions of Contest which is applicable in all WBF tournaments. A supplemental part, pertaining to each particular tournament, is published in relation with this tournament.
With the recognition of Bridge as a sport by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), it has become obligatory to follow the Anti-Doping regulations in WBF tournaments. Accordingly, the WBF has accepted the revised 2009 Anti-Doping Code established by the World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA, and adopted the new Anti-Doping rules based on the revised Code. These rules were approved by WADA on 27 January 2009 and are in force as of that date.
Bridge players are not required to sign the declaration form given at the end of the WBF Anti-Doping Rules (page 43). However, players in the Open and Women’s series are liable for Anti-Doping Tests. Any players requiring exemption certificates should ensure that they complete the TUE form and return it to the address given on the document as soon as possible and no later than 21 days before the commencement of the competition in which they are participating.
