I understand that Mr José Damiani, President of the World Bridge Federation, reported to you about the position of women on the WBF Executive Board.

I am one of them – my name is Anna Maria Torlontano and I am from Italy . I am Chairman of the European Bridge League and World Bridge Federation Women's Committees. My principal function is to take care of the development of Women's Bridge world wide, always taking into account the general development of bridge in all sectors.

On this subject, I am enclosing my report that was presented at the end of May 2000 to a Congress consisting of the Presidents and officials from the European Federations. I believe you will appreciate that I share your ideas and aims about the need to promote the participation of women not only within the sport itself but also at the administrative levels within the International Bridge Federations.
