Emma Jean (Mrs. David B.) HAWES of Fort Worth TX, USA, one of the leading American women players.
She graduated from Cornell University at age 18, and later served as president of Fort Worth University.
She was member of the ACBL Board of Governors. At one time she was one of only 8 women WBF Grand Masters. She won Venice Cup 1974, 1976, 1978, World Olympiad Women's Teams 1980. Also represented ACBL in Deauville 1968 (placed 3rd Women's Teams). Miami Beach 1972 (3rd Women's Teams, 5th Mixed Teams), Las Palmas 1974 (3rd Women's Pairs), Monte Carlo 1976 (3rd Women's Teams).
Hawes won Open Pairs 1958. Life Master Women's Pairs 1966, 1978; Women's Teams 1967, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1975, 1976; Women's Pairs 1981, Master Mixed Teams 1964. She placed 2nd Life Master Women's Pairs 1972, Women's Pairs 1968, 1976; Master Mixed Teams 1952, 1967, 1972. |
